The Brain Interfaces Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the design, build, and testing of all mechanical systems in our implant and charger.Job Description & ResponsibilitiesAs a Manufacturing Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing our implants and accessories. The implanted device contains micron-scale electrode threads and an electronics assembly containing the battery, chips, and circuit boards. You will be engaged with many day-to-day responsibilities, including flip-chip bonding, part cleaning and preparation, electronics potting, mounting implants to the surgical mechanisms, as well as component and assembly-level testing of the electronics. Additional responsibilities include:Perform mechanical/electrical assembly of implant and charger components, subassemblies, and integration of final assembliesBuild small implant subassemblies involving custom micron-scale electrode arrays and SoC with high precisionOperate equipment, such as flip-chip bonders and laser weldersExecute equipment maintenance and calibrationPackage final products for deliveryMaintain parts inventoryRun functional testing of built hardware, including setup, instrumentation, and test executionEnsure product quality and conformance to design requirementsKeep a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained workspaceRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentExcellent verbal and written communicationResourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too smallStrong self-discipline and integrityAbility to work reliably with small and delicate components where precision is criticalAbility to maintain a clean and organized workspaceAbility to follow strict SOPs, safety protocols and quality standardsAbility to thrive in a dynamic and constantly changing environmentAbility to work effectively in a team environmentExcellent attention to detailBasic familiarity with Google Suite (e.g., documents, spreadsheets, presentations)Preferred QualificationsExperience in a manufacturing environmentDemonstrated ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings and work instructionsExperience with small and delicate assemblies where precision is criticalDemonstrated ability to visually detect defects and repair them in a fast-paced environment, and report them when necessaryDemonstrated ability to use electronic tools and basic software to document, communicate, identify, and resolve quality issues and defectsAdditional RequirementsAbility to work within a cleanroom, including adhering to gowning and PPE requirements (e.g., masks) and spending long periods standing and walkingAbility to lift and transfer up to 25 poundsWilling to work extended hours and weekends, as neededPay TransparencyAt Neuralink, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is expected to be within the below range.
