JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant supports daily Accounting operations and helps ensure financial records are accurate and complete. This role performs key accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cash management, inventory accounting, fixed asset administration, sales tax compliance, and month-end close tasks. The Staff Accountant works with internal teams to support accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous learning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Prepare and post journal entries, support month-end and year-end close activities, manage intercompany transactions, and assist with internal and external audits.
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances to support accurate financial reporting.
• Manage daily cash entries, support payment processing activities, and complete regular bank reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging, follow up on outstanding customer balances, and support customer credit management activities.
• Support inventory accounting, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations.
• Administer fixed asset accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of company assets.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns across required jurisdictions accurately and on time.
• Support accounting process improvement initiatives and assist in the optimization of our ERP system to enhance efficiency.
• Develop, standardize, and document accounting processes to improve consistency and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Solid knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and standard internal controls.
• Understanding of manufacturing accounting, specifically regarding inventory and fixed assets.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial reporting and ERP systems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Infor XA, Epicor Kinetic, SAP, Oracle, or similar manufacturing systems.
