Starting Wage: $21.86-$30.07 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary


The Hospital Billing C ustomer Service Specialist answers all incoming calls and emails to Patient Financial Services and assists patients, guarantors, and insurance companies with questions relating to hospital and professional billing. This includes performing account analysis, updating insurance and demographic information, processing payments, and supporting patients with charity and financial assistance inquiries.


This role delivers a seamless, compassionate customer service experience across multiple touchpoints. The Customer Service Specialist utilizes medical billing knowledge, insurance processes, and collection workflows to resolve account issues accurately and promptly while ensuring patients are connected to appropriate financial resources.

Qualifications


Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively is required
• An associate degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience, medical finance, patient registration, or collections experience is required- experience in a hospital or clinic billing setting is preferred

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Basic math skills
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations
• General understanding of hospital billing practices
• Excellent customer service skills with demonstrated compassion and empathy
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer proficiency and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
