Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting diverse students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This unique itinerant substitute assignment offers the opportunity to work across multiple specialized programs—including Enhanced Autism, Emotional Support, and Multiple Disabilities Support classrooms—in both Lehigh and Carbon Counties.
With a 35-hour, school-day workweek, you’ll help cover vacancies, teachers on leave, and longer-term classroom needs. Due to the itinerant nature, candidates must live within approximately a 35-minute commute of assigned locations.
What You’ll Bring:
- Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred depending on assignment)
- Experience teaching in special education classrooms, navigating a variety of needs and settings
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IEP goals
- Strong understanding of classroom management and behavioral support techniques
- Talent collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Flexibility to adapt to multiple classrooms and program environments
- Expertise or background in one or more focus areas: autism programming (ABA, BIPs, communication/sensory supports), emotional support, multiple disabilities, behavioral health, or IU/specialized school settings
Your Impact:
- Support students in Enhanced Autism, Emotional Support, and Multiple Disabilities programs
- Cover various programs in Carbon and Lehigh County, responding to coverage needs as they arise
- Employ creativity, patience, and expert support to foster each child’s academic and social success
Requirements:
- Active Pennsylvania licensure (proof required)
- Experience in specialized settings as detailed above
- Full name, city of residence, resume, reference check, and program/location preference needed at submission
If you’re ready to build meaningful connections, support students’ growth, and embrace a dynamic role, submit your application today. Be prepared to provide documentation of licensure and a completed special education reference. Discover a fulfilling role where your expertise is valued and every day brings new opportunities to make a difference!
