Senior Project Engineer Job Summary We have an immediate opening for a Senior Project Engineer in our Farmington, CT office. As a Senior Project Engineer you will provide project support, structural engineering, building envelope oversight, and conduct on‑site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and industry standards. Primary focus: deliver exceptional outcomes while maintaining effective communication with internal teams, clients, and contractors. A Professional Engineering license is required for this role. Estimated salary range: $75,000 to $135,000. The salary listed is an estimate and not guaranteed; it will vary based on experience, education, skills, and certifications. Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate and manage internal kick‑off, milestone, and close‑out meetings, fostering effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders. Verify schedules and ensure adherence to project plans and timelines, both internally and with external resources. Conduct on‑site inspections, document existing conditions, perform field testing, photograph, and create hand‑sketches to observe track work in progress. Record accurate field measurements and perform calculations throughout the project duration. Prepare written correspondence with clients and contractors, maintaining clear and professional communication. Interpret investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications. Communicate project status and proactively address issues or discrepancies, escalating unresolved issues to the immediate supervisor. Maintain organized records, files, drawings, and essential project data within the company’s systems. Collect post‑project feedback to identify improvement areas and communicate to the supervisor. Keep up to date with job knowledge and industry trends through workshops, professional publications, and societies. Engage in networking activities and represent the company at events, seminars, and continuing education presentations, seeking marketing opportunities. Perform other duties as related to the position as assigned by the firm. Special Requirements Technical Understand Construction Plans, Specifications, and construction manuals. Produce inspection field reports by thoroughly reviewing site observations and providing recommendations based on professional judgement and applicable codes. Review and evaluate change orders, assessing impact on scope, schedule, and budget. Review payment applications, verifying accuracy of work completed and materials supplied by contractors. Client Relations Participate in client meetings led by senior personnel, taking minutes and following up on action items. Assist in planning, organizing, and running project meetings, communicating objectives, deliverables, and action items to stakeholders. Internal Team Work closely with the team to understand scope, budget, goals, deliverables, and timelines to ensure project success. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or relevant work experience. Work Experience Minimum of five years in an architectural and engineering consulting firm or construction industry. Licenses and Certifications Engineering/Architectural Intern or Engineering in Training Certification preferred for degree holders. Professional Engineering license preferred. OSHA‑10 Certification preferred. Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Skills Proficient written and verbal communication abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and deliverables. Strong project management and organizational skills, able to handle multiple projects concurrently. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards. Professional and courteous interaction with clients and colleagues. Ability to attend client meetings and events as needed. Flexibility to work overtime as required. Familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Revit. Strong teamwork and collaboration, fostering a positive work environment and ability to work independently or collaboratively. Ability to work in the field and travel outside local areas as needed. Efficient time management while adhering to project budgets. Physical Demands Lifting Must be able to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Height and Access Equipment Safe operation and use of ladders, scaffolds, and other access equipment as required. Ability to work safely at heights. Outdoor Environment Exposure to prolonged periods outdoors, possibly beyond 3 hours. Ability to work in diverse weather conditions, including temperatures above 85°F or below 40°F, high humidity above 90%, and adverse conditions like snow, ice, rain, and wind. Mobility Extended periods of standing and walking, possibly on uneven or challenging terrains. Flexibility in Scheduling Ability to adjust lunch hours based on project demands, which may include working through regular lunch times.
