Production Operator

Manuf/Production Operator 1Location: West Branch, MI, US, 48661 Summary Ability to operate and run to standard process equipment and off line equipment, such as; presses, furnaces, grinders, sandblasting, etc. while adhering to strict quality and safety standards. Essential duties and responsibilities include participating in team initiatives to identify and resolve safety issues, developing LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing, independent, safe, responsible operation of all the equipment necessary for the production of super abrasives and related products within specified work assignment, operating automated machinery, presses, lathes, mills, furnaces, wire EDMs, and robotic equipment, operating chemical processing equipment and handling hazardous chemicals, performing hand assemblies of product, blends, sieved material, and other as required, operating and interpreting results from measuring tools, gauges, scales, microscopes, go/no go gauges, and visual standards, performing minor tooling changes, setup and troubleshooting on production equipment, assisting area experts in completing higher difficulty tooling setup, changeovers and troubleshooting, performing basic preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, equipment cleanliness, and other as necessary, completing ownership for housekeeping in assigned work area, performing training of others with respect to the safe and responsible operation of assigned manufacturing equipment mentioned above, adhering to documented work instructions: PPF, POCI, EOI, JSA, assembly prints, and other as needed, assuring product and process quality measures are maintained, communicating quality concerns to relevant technical support personnel.Qualifications include good interpersonal, cooperative and team-oriented skills and behaviors, proven independent performer that needs minimal supervision, ability to use production management tools including LEAN, material management systems, and maintenance of accurate throughput and quality records, manual dexterity required to accurately handle and position parts, lifting and transport of materials (20-40 lbs), ability to comprehend and apply training to operate manufacturing production equipment listed above, ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve overall production goals, basic computer competency (email, data entry into Material Mgmt. Systems, log notes in MSWord), must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. Education and/or work experience includes previous experience in a manufacturing environment, previous experience with quality checks, high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical skills/physical requirements include walking and standing on the shop floor for extended periods throughout the day.
