Schedule:Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)8:00 AM - 5:00 PMDepartment: R&I Innovation - 249Primary Purpose:The Research Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and problem resolution of complex projects and processes that define a major Innovation research portfolio. This role oversees interconnected projects that complement and build on each other to achieve larger, long-term strategic objectives. The Program Manager works independently, designing effective solutions and practices while working closely with personnel assigned to the project or process. This position plans and governs successful delivery of program deliverables, products, and outcomes. Consider joining our dynamic team.Essential Functions:Develops and manages program proposals, and contracts.Ensures successful incorporation of change management, by liaising with stakeholders, developing robust training programs, and tracking engagement.Aligns project interdependencies.Defines and aligns the benefits that realize program objectives.Manages program objectives against contractual obligations to ensure each project complies with agreements and expectations of all applicable stakeholders.Defines, formulates and estimates the project tasks cost and duration to inform project deliverables and chosen budgeting method to maintain realistic project timelines and estimated budget.Coordinates templates, tasks, and activities to maximize the effectiveness of staff efforts.Analyzes and forecasts program needs to ensure available resources while upholding established internal budget.Develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs).Uses experience and expertise to innovate, challenge assumptions and invent practices when necessary.Characterizes measurable program performance criteria to evaluate quality and improvement opportunities within the team.Provides direction and delegates responsibility to staff; provides ownership of tasks while holding staff accountable.Motivates, develops, and retains staff by providing opportunities for professional growth.Ensures solid communication management throughout program by establishing framework and relevant documentation to allow for informed decision-making. Anticipates obstacles and risks to develop contingency plans to address them; takes necessary restorative action when projects go off-track.Communicates risk policies and processes for program, to preserve reputational integrity, customer relationships, & employee loyalty.Drives and establishes strategic relationships with established, new, and potential ARUP research clientele.Maintains current, in-depth technical knowledge of laboratory testing including, but not limited to:Upfront specimen logisticsResearch and discovery applications, including validationsEnd-user result dataResearch implementation in clinical operationsDemonstrates knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and agency guidelines as they pertain to diagnostic laboratory testing.Identifies opportunities for program growth by assessing value in new programs, as well as the financial and business potential of research opportunities.Proactively networks to build relationships with the community in support of the goals of the program.Engages internal and external stakeholders in problem-solving and decision-making to gain buy-in and alignment.Other duties as assigned.Physical and Other Requirements:Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies. ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.QualificationsEDUCATIONBachelor's Degree or betterMaster's Degree or betterEXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Business Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related healthcare field and ten years of demonstrated experience managing complex project(s) OR Master’s degree in Business Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related healthcare field and eight years of demonstrated experience managing complex project(s)Eight years of experience in research/clinical laboratory setting or combination of relevant experiencePMP (PMI) certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 (six) months of hire dateUnderstanding of regulatory requirements for validated systems for regulated research studies (CLIA, CAP, GCP, GLP, etc.)Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated knowledge of the technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project management, as defined by PMIDemonstrated technical acumenDemonstrated experience managing collaborations, such as with sponsors, research organizations, and clientsBachelor’s degree or MS in related healthcare fieldManagement experience or laboratory experienceDemonstrated industry experience to assigned programExperience developing, managing a program budgetLICENSES & CERTIFICATIONSProject Management ProfJob SummaryRequisition Number: PROGR023339Job Category: ProfessionalSchedule: Full-Time
