Director of Game Management & Event Operations

Position Overview The Director of Game Management/Event Operations focuses primarily on game operations and event management for all home athletic events each year, and events hosted by the Athletic Department, totaling over 230 events per year. The position also assists with facility/custodial management of all Athletic Department facilities and other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Function as a team player within the internal operations group and share the vision for the future of the department as outlined by the athletics strategic plan. Follow purchasing and spending guidelines as set by the University and athletic department. 60%: Event Management Game/Event manager for home athletic events and events hosted by the Athletic Department. Assist with preparation and set-up of facilities for home events and clean‑up at conclusion. Hire, schedule, and supervise staff for game management positions, event security, and crowd control. Manage ticket sales and concessions, including student work‑study positions. Maintain knowledge of industry standards for game management and event security, as well as food safety regulations specific to concessions. Partner with sports communication to develop, maintain, and distribute Visiting Team Guide for opposing schools and officials. 30%: Facility Management Assist the Director of Athletic Facility Operations with maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities as assigned by the athletic administration. Serve as primary position duty for maintenance and preparation of facilities during summer months. 10%: Supervision Manage Paycom Process for Operations Student Workers – both Game and Facility Operations. Primary supervisor/scheduler for game management work‑study positions and formal internship program. Train, supervise, and oversee Sports Leadership and Management interns. Proactively support students from historically marginalized backgrounds. Serve as Stoller Center building supervisor during assigned hours. Other duties within the athletic department as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s Degree required. Experience : 2+ years in athletics and/or events management. Works well in a team environment. Working Conditions This position requires nights and weekends. The worker may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Work occurs both inside and outside, in environments that include crowd management, excessive noise, and moving vehicles or parking lots. Some general office environments with standard office equipment are also involved.
