Senior Accountant

A high-growth, investor-backed consumer services company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding finance team. In this highly visible role, you will work closely with finance leadership team and CFO to take ownership of key accounting areas while helping build scalable processes, strengthen internal controls, and drive automation as the organization continues to grow. Based in Manhattan, this is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly expanding business as it continues to develop the financial infrastructure and controls required to support its longer-term path toward an IPO.

About the Senior Accountant role

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and enhancement of internal controls and accounting processes in preparation for future audit and compliance requirements on path towards IPO.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal reporting standards
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the close process.
• Take ownership of key areas of the month-end close, including preparing and posting journal entries across revenue, payroll, lease accounting, fixed assets, inventory, and other areas.
• Perform and maintain balance sheet reconciliations across a variety of accounts.
• Support external audits and tax filings by preparing schedules and documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Create and maintain accounting policies, standard operating procedures, and supporting documentation to strengthen consistency and audit readiness.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations and other areas of the business to resolve billing, revenue, and accounting-related matters.
• Coordinate sales tax processes and work with external tax advisors to support timely and accurate filings.
• Review key vendor and expense-related information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a high-growth or rapidly scaling organization.
• Strong hands-on experience managing month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations independently.
• Process improvement and change management mindset.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting/ERP systems.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and problem-solving skills.
