Treasury Specialist

Position Overview

A growing, privately held organization is seeking an experienced Treasury Specialist to join its finance team. This is a hands-on position responsible for the accurate and timely execution, monitoring, and reconciliation of a high volume of ACH transactions, wire transfers, and other banking activity .

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with significant daily transaction volume, and understands the importance of strong treasury controls, banking security, fraud prevention, and strict processing deadlines.

This position requires someone who can manage multiple banking activities simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate, review, and process a high volume of domestic ACH transactions and wire transfers.
• Monitor daily banking activity across multiple accounts and financial institutions.
• Ensure ACH files, wires, transfers, and other treasury transactions are processed accurately and within required banking deadlines.
• Perform daily cash positioning and monitor account balances to ensure adequate funding for scheduled disbursements.
• Coordinate funding requirements for payroll, taxes, benefits, vendor payments, and other significant cash obligations.
• Review ACH returns, rejects, reversals, exceptions, and Notices of Change and coordinate timely resolution.
• Research and resolve discrepancies involving bank transactions, ACH activity, wires, and account balances.
• Perform or assist with daily and monthly bank and treasury reconciliations.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for treasury transactions.
• Follow established dual-control, approval, segregation-of-duties, and banking security procedures.
• Assist with fraud prevention efforts, including identifying unusual or potentially unauthorized banking activity.
• Maintain ACH authorization records and support compliance with applicable NACHA requirements and internal policies.
• Communicate with banks regarding transaction issues, account activity, banking services, and exception resolution.
• Support the opening, closing, and maintenance of bank accounts and authorized users as needed.
• Assist with treasury reporting, cash forecasting, and analysis of cash activity.
• Identify opportunities to improve treasury processes, controls, automation, and efficiency.
• Support internal and external audits by providing treasury documentation and transaction support.
• Work closely with Accounting, Payroll, Operations, and other departments to resolve time-sensitive funding and transaction issues.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in treasury, banking operations, cash management, accounting, payroll funding, or a similar financial operations role.
• Demonstrated experience processing high-volume ACH and/or wire transactions .
• Strong understanding of banking processes, transaction controls, and cash management.
• Experience working with online banking platforms and treasury management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively under strict daily processing deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies independently.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and banking information with discretion.
• Working knowledge of NACHA rules and ACH processing requirements.
• Experience with ACH file processing, including returns, reversals, prenotes, and exception handling.
• Experience managing treasury activity across multiple bank accounts or legal entities.
• Familiarity with positive pay, ACH blocks/filters, dual authorization, and other banking fraud-prevention controls.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume payroll, PEO, staffing, financial services, or other transaction-intensive environment.
• Experience with cash forecasting and daily liquidity management.

Success in this position means that large volumes of time-sensitive financial transactions are completed accurately, securely, and on time . The Treasury Specialist will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the organization's daily cash flows, anticipate funding requirements, quickly identify discrepancies, and maintain disciplined treasury controls.
