Science Teacher Pickens Liberty High School – Liberty, South Carolina Job Details Job ID: 5824598 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jul 09, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description Classification Title: 1.0 Science 26-27 Salary Schedule: SDPC Teacher Salary Schedule Work Schedule: 190 Days / 7.5 Hours per day Certification Requirement: SC Certification in Secondary Science Position Year: 26-27 school year, starting July 2026 General Statement of Job Responsibilities and Authority: The Science Teacher reports to the assigned school’s Principal and is responsible for carrying out assigned duties in accordance with district policies, state and federal laws, and school purpose. Teachers are expected to provide after‑school support as required for assisting students, consulting with parents, and performing other essential out‑of‑school work. Essential Functions Maintain an awareness of best practices and current research on instruction, instructional technology, and related research that enhances and improves instruction. Plan and develop effective strategies to increase student achievement by addressing individual learning differences. Carry out any other duties related to the instructional program as deemed necessary by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Have knowledge regarding curriculum, subject content and developmental needs of students to offer appropriate learning experiences. Use data to gauge student progress and guide instruction. Communicate with students, faculty, and community. Provide a safe, student‑centered environment that is educationally stimulating and respectful. Advocate a professional manner and participate in professional development opportunities that promote proficiency in your field. Deliver activities that produce measurable results on recognized standards. Show ability to work with others and accept individual differences among children. Maintain good physical and mental health. Pass the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) requirements. Handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy. Assist students boarding and departing from school buses. Responsibilities Plan at the beginning of the school year for the organization and sequence of instructional content and prepare the classroom learning environment. Supervise/monitor students during lunch, assemblies, related arts, field trips, mainstream classes, recess, etc., as deemed appropriate by the teacher. Ensure correct implementation of the students’ IEP goals and objectives. Prepare instructional objectives for lessons considering individual students’ IEP goals. Clarify goals of instruction for students. Present new content in a stimulating manner at the appropriate rate and level of difficulty. Manage classroom time to ensure success in goals. Maintain confidentiality of students, especially regarding IEP and record information. Assist with discipline procedures for student behavior. Maintain individual records for each student. Guide students in developing positive relationships with peers and adults. Organize instruction to provide a structured environment for learning. Keep lesson plans updated in case a substitute is needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator(s).
