About the Role:

The Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of commercial grocery facilities. This position ensures that all areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces, are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained to provide a welcoming environment for customers and staff. The Janitor is responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks, handling waste disposal, and conducting minor landscaping duties to uphold the facility's standards. Additionally, the role involves adhering to safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the smooth operation and positive reputation of the retail establishment through diligent and consistent janitorial services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Prior experience in janitorial or custodial work within a commercial or retail environment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safety procedures.
• Capability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software.
• Certification in workplace safety or OSHA training.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report maintenance issues and coordinate with team members.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces throughout the commercial building.
• Maintain restrooms by cleaning fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
• Handle waste management duties including emptying trash bins, recycling, and proper disposal of waste materials.
• Conduct minor landscaping and outdoor maintenance tasks such as lawn care, trimming bushes, and clearing debris to enhance the exterior appearance.
• Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently, including floor scrubbers and buffers.
• Follow established safety procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
• Use computer systems to log maintenance activities, report issues, and communicate with management as needed.
• Assist with lifting and moving heavy objects or equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
