About the Role LABBB is hiring an Elementary School Special Education Teacher Assistant to educate students with significant disabilities including intellectual, communication, and behavior challenges. The classroom is a multi-grade substantially separate classroom located at Memorial Elementary School in Burlington. Teacher Assistants support the implementation of lessons and activities to further students’ skill development associated with educational, functional, and therapeutic needs; provide individual and small group instruction under the supervision of the teacher; utilize and maintain a wide variety of technology and assistive communication devices for students; implement sensory, mobility, behavior, equipment, and self-care plans (including toileting, feeding, etc.) and facilitate interactions among students that provide opportunities for emotional, social, and cognitive growth. The person in this role is responsible for providing specialized support to help students engage in learning activities in a substantially separate classroom setting, general education inclusion settings, and within the community as well as assisting special education teachers and specialists throughout each school day. Job Requirements High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience working with children, young adults, or in human services related field; special education experience highly desirable Ability to work with students with a variety of disabilities including, but not limited to social emotional, behavioral, non-verbal, non-ambulatory, etc. Valid driver’s license and ability to commute between buildings/programs during the day Ability and willingness to drive LABBB van as required by program Working full time (35 hours per week), 11 months (school calendar plus required 4 weeks in summer) Physical Demands Physically capable of carrying out the daily responsibilities of the classroom including standing for long periods of time, transferring students, lifting up to 50 pounds, moving quickly with student behavior, etc. Citizenship, residency or work visa required Responsibilities Assist with arrival and departure of students Assist in the implementation of appropriate data driven, culturally responsive instruction, and implementation of individual education plans and behavior intervention plans under the supervision of licensed staff Follow schedule as assigned, including reassignment to different program locations as needed Prepare instructional materials as requested by the teacher Support students’ development of independence, social awareness, language, academic skills, and appropriate behavior Collect student data and provide it to team members (teacher, transition counselor, related service provider) Effectively utilize recommended adaptive equipment for individual students Communicate all significant occurrences to the appropriate supervisor in a respectful and timely manner Uphold LABBB’s mission and core values as well as adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the field and contribute to a positive and safe school culture Support students’ personal care needs such as ADLs including communication, toileting, feeding, transferring, self-care, and assistance with mobility including lifting Supervise students across educational settings including lunch and community Salary Range $43,475 to $59,892 per year, commensurate with experience and education. 2026-2027 Salary range is for school year and includes compensation for required 4-week summer program Benefits Full-time employees at LABBB Collaborative enjoy low-cost benefit offerings including medical, dental & vision insurance plans, partial employer-paid basic life insurance, optional employee and dependent life insurance, voluntary medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts, 403(b) & 457(b) retirement plans and Massachusetts state employees’ pension plan, paid time-off, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance program and more. #J-18808-Ljbffr Young World Physical Education
