GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL- ASSISTANT COACH

Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Athletic Coach Reports to: The Athletic Director and Principal, who provides overall objectives and final evaluations. Supervises: The coach advises, coordinates, and supports a staff of assistant coaches and players. Qualifications Ability to organize and supervise a flag football program. Previous successful coaching or playing experience in flag football or football (preferred). Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of flag football, with ongoing study of new theories and practices. Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions. Understanding of Rowan-Salisbury Schools and NCHSAA rules and guidelines. Completion of all coaching eligibility requirements in compliance with Rowan-Salisbury Schools and NCHSAA. General Responsibilities The success of athletic programs impacts the community's image. Public exposure and community/parent pressure for winning performance are significant, but must not override objectives of good sportsmanship and mental health. The position includes responsibilities such as extended time, risk of injury, and due process. The job description provides guidance for unspecific situations; coaches shall exercise common sense and good judgment. The position is evaluated yearly and may be renewed. Duties and Responsibilities Implement all athletic policies approved by the Rowan Salisbury Schools Board of Education. Apply state and league regulations consistently and interpret them for staff. Understand proper administrative lines of command; refer all requests or grievances through proper channels. Attend required public, staff, and departmental meetings. Staff Responsibilities Establish fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by assistants. Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program. Train and inform staff; encourage professional growth through clinic attendance. Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, analyze staff effectiveness, and evaluate all assistants at season's end. Maintain discipline, address grievances, and increase morale and cooperation. Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal. Administrative Duties Ensure proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites. Student Responsibilities Mentor each athlete, promoting character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Monitor student athletes’ grades and conduct; provide guidance during practices, games, and travel. Provide training rules, schedule, calendar, and unique sport regulations to athletes and parents. Follow injury, medical, and emergency policies. Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians; assist athletes in college or advanced educational selections. Finance, Facility and Equipment Accountable for all equipment; properly mark and identify before issuing or storing. Monitor equipment rooms and offices; authorize access, issuance, and requisition of equipment. Permit athletes only to authorized areas at appropriate times. Inspect locker rooms before and after practices and games, ensuring cleanliness of the facility. Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of sport equipment and the facility. Instill respect for equipment and school property. Public Relations Promote the sport within the school by recruiting athletes not engaged in other sports programs. Promote the sport outside the school through media outreach, little league programs, or other feasible methods. Maintain good relations with news media, booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. Position Type Part-Time Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
