Meeting the needs of the whole person is our continued commitment.What You'll Do: Provides legal representation to immigrant clients in removal proceedings and immigration relief cases, including asylum, SIJ, T/U visas, family-based petitions, and bond hearingsRepresents unaccompanied children and other vulnerable populations, including appearances in immigration and family court for SIJ-related mattersRecruits, trains, mentors, and supervises pro bono attorneys and volunteersScreens clients, assigns cases, tracks progress, and ensures deadlines are metDevelops and maintains partnerships with law firms, nonprofits, clinics, and legal networksManages and reviews pro bono caseload and intervenes on cases requiring attentionCreates training materials and maintains a pro bono resource librarySupports outreach, training events, and volunteer recruitment effortsCompletes monthly grant reporting and collaborates with internal departments to support client outcomesCoordinates with legal staff to support program growth and effectivenessParticipates in and delivers legal trainings for staff and external partnersCommunicates with clients and government agencies and assists with special projects as neededSupervises pro bono legal assistant, program specialist, volunteers, and pro bono attorneysRecruits, trains, and mentors pro bono attorneys and volunteers, while collaborating with community partners and agenciesCollects and manages program-wide and grant-specific dataParticipates in meetings with immigration legal service organizations and community partnersScreens clients and provides referrals for pro bono legal servicesCoordinates case placements with support staff and provides ongoing mentoring, technical assistance, and training as needed What You'll BringJuris Doctor (JD) with active State Bar membership required; Louisiana license preferredBilingual in Spanish and English (written and spoken) requiredAt least 2 years of immigration law or related experience preferred; clinical experience may be consideredExperience with immigration, child dependency cases, and/or working with children and trauma survivors preferredAbility to manage a high-volume workload independently under tight deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with diverse and vulnerable populationsProficiency in Microsoft Office and database systemsMust pass required background checks and clearancesSchedule:Weekly ; FlexibleFull-TimeThe Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is an Equal Opportunity Employer At the CCANO , we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion or belief, national, social or ethnic origin, sex (including pregnancy), age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, marital status, veteran service, genetic information, family or parental status, or any other status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
