Details Med/Surg Neuro unit with 32 beds Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:30-7:00) 36 or 48 hour options available, with anything over 48 hours considered overtime Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6 Participates in rapid response team activation No on-call requirements Floating to like units required, with brief orientation provided Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending acceptance must be obtained prior to start Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; CPI preferred Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required First-time travelers accepted if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs Respiratory skills including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration Gastrointestinal skills including colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management Neurological/psychiatric experience with CVA patients preferred Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA Isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac experience Genitourinary/renal skills including pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, and surgical drain management Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a Neuro Med/Surg unit including monitoring and rapid response activation Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted Former staff must wait 1 year before returning to the facility as a traveler Maximum of 3 days RTO auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation American Traveler Job ID P-741460.
