Job Title: Construction Laborer Job Description

The Construction Laborer plays a key role in supporting heavy civil construction and site contracting projects by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks in the field. This position works outdoors on activities such as piping, paving, concrete work, and general labor, while consistently following OSHA and company safety policies. You will use hand and power tools, assist equipment operators, and help ensure that work meets grade and quality specifications.

• Perform all work in full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Acquire and organize the tools and equipment needed for daily operations.
• Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines to establish accurate reference points.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms to prepare for concrete placement and other structural work.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to assist with alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to meet grade specifications.
• Level earth and aggregate materials to fine grade specifications as directed.
• Mix concrete according to project requirements and instructions.
• Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete to achieve the specified surface quality.
• Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections for piping and underground utility work.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces as needed to support construction activities.
• Perform general labor tasks including cleaning, loading, unloading, and site housekeeping.
• Use hand tools and power tools such as shovels, rakes, and other construction equipment safely and effectively.
• Support paving operations by assisting with materials handling, site preparation, and basic mechanical tasks.
• Assist with landscaping and production-related activities as needed on the job site.
• Read and use a tape measure accurately to support layout, cutting, and installation tasks.
• Follow detailed written and oral instructions and report any issues or safety concerns to supervision.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in fit testing as required.
• Meet the physical requirements of the role, including regular movement, lifting, and working in outdoor environments.

• At least one month of related construction or labor experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
• Ability to effectively use basic hand tools such as shovels and rakes.
• Experience performing general labor tasks including cleaning, loading, unloading, and site support.
• Ability to work with concrete, including mixing, placing, smoothing, and finishing.
• Comfort using hand and power tools in a construction environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow directions and coordinate with team members.
• Mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written and oral instructions.
• Basic problem-solving skills to address routine issues on the job site.
• Ability to successfully fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, including regular movement, lifting, and working outdoors.
• Awareness of and adherence to OSHA and company safety policies.

• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or similar construction environments.
• Familiarity with piping, paving, and mechanical tasks on construction projects.
• Experience with landscaping and production-related work on job sites.
• Exposure to working around moving mechanical parts and construction equipment.
• Relevant safety certifications applicable to construction or heavy civil work.
• Interest in participating in additional training programs, including on-the-job and online training.

This role is based in an outdoor construction environment where you will regularly work in varying weather conditions. You will frequently be around moving mechanical parts and construction equipment, and may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles typical of active job sites. The noise level is generally moderate to loud, consistent with heavy civil construction activities. Work involves standing, walking, lifting, and using hand and power tools throughout the day. The environment is safety-focused, with required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to established safety procedures and guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Perkasie, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
