Psychiatric/DD Nurse 15% Recruitment Supplement and 10% Supplement for 2nd and 3rd shifts

What You'll Do At the direction of the Psychiatric/DD Nurse Director, assume primary nursing responsibility for assigned residents, including nursing treatment planning, verification and review of physician orders, chart audits, self‑medication plans, human sexuality programs, medical administration, infection control, physical assessments, and related scenario programs as appropriate to the assigned duty shift. Participate in related meetings as required by the supervisor; communicate medical information to parents/guardians when appropriate. Fill in for psychiatric meetings as necessary and work with physicians on a rotating basis, setting up charts and verifying orders written from physician consults. Process physician orders (labs, x‑rays, medical appointments), enter orders into computerized records, and communicate changes in resident status to the interdisciplinary team. Schedule follow‑up care with physicians and communicate medical appointments to appropriate personnel. Assess and review preventative health screening forms and ensure quarterly physical exams are completed for residents. Assist in feeding, grooming, and self‑care, evaluate client and staff injuries, and administer and record first aid as necessary. Respond to medical emergencies (first aid, CPR, psychotropic emergencies, etc.) and assist in decision‑making in the supervisor’s absence. Monitor health‑care charts in living areas to ensure proper follow‑up and continuity of care. Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with the client’s physician pursuant to client health conditions. Submit reports to the supervisor (IPP input, chart audits, psychotropic medication reviews, self‑medication inputs, and physical assessments). Develop, implement, and evaluate client self‑medication programs. Provide health teaching and direction to family, staff, and clients as directed. Assist in orienting and training new staff. Conduct and participate in in‑service training sessions. Provide clinical oversight to licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Perform other related duties as assigned, including input on unusual incident reports, completing nursing department shift reports of client health conditions, and ensuring proper maintenance and security of the drug cupboard. Requirements Requires a current license as a registered professional nurse in the State of Ohio, issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
