About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Evansville, Indiana, 47701!

• Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Ortho/Neuro/Trauma unit serving trauma, orthopedic (hip/femur fractures), and neurological (spine, neck, back, rib fractures) patient populations
• Perform strong neurological assessments, log rolling, and application of assistive devices including back braces and immobilizers
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers may be required to pass a telemetry test ( Step-Down experience required for tele test )
• Insert peripheral IV lines and maintain accurate, timely documentation using EPIC (checkoff class required)
• Float within skillset to a secondary campus with a minimum of 2 hours' notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires at this teaching facility

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• At least 1 full year of ortho/neuro/trauma nursing experience
• Minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Current active Compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required
• Must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Experience with chest tube and indwelling drain management, drip administration (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), and epidural management
• Familiarity with PEGs/NGs, Buck's traction, pin site care, On-Q management, and wound care including wound vacs and packing
• Experience with CIWA protocol and behavioral health patient management
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
