Assistant Track & Field Coach

Position Summary This position will assist the head coach with a highly competitive, Division I Track & Field Program in the SEC; assist with coaching and staff administration as it relates to recruiting, budgets, traveling, public relations, fund-raising camps and clinics; organizing and conducting practices and competitions; and administering and promoting all phases of the Track & Field Program. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related coaching experience Preferred Qualifications Experience as a coach or student‑athlete for a Division I Track & Field program Key Responsibilities Collate and evaluate all practice sessions for training groups as assigned Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes whose athletic and academic potential make them competitive in the SEC and nationally; coordinate recruiting travel and visit itineraries Assist with meet requirements, fundraising events, and supervise team managers Assist the Head Coach and Academic Advisors in monitoring academic performance and overall well‑being of student‑athletes, and support community service projects; ensure compliance with NCAA recruitment rules Assist with administrative tasks related to recruiting, budgets, traveling, public relations, camps, and clinics Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Evaluate and compare athletic talent for potential growth and development of student-athletes Successful recruiting experience Comprehend and adhere to NCAA, SEC, and institutional policies and procedures in Track&Field Effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers, and the general public; proactively solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Physical Demands Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms Occasionally sit and talk or hear Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision and peripheral vision; noise level is usually moderate but escalates to high during practice and competitions EEO Statement The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity employer.
