Job Title: Wiring Assembler

Job Description

Join a light industrial manufacturing team where you will spend most of your time on the shop floor assembling and wiring switchgear and switchboard products to customer specifications. You will work on a variety of complex assemblies and subassemblies that can contain extensive wiring, including PLCs, circuit monitors, and other advanced electronic devices. This role is ideal for individuals with wiring experience or formal technical training who enjoy hands-on work, interpreting schematics and blueprints, and contributing to high-quality electrical assemblies in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire a variety of complex switchboard and switchgear assemblies and subassemblies according to customer orders and engineering specifications.
  • Install and connect PLCs, circuit monitors, and other advanced electronic devices within switchgear and switchboard products.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, material lists, and other technical documentation to complete wiring tasks accurately.
  • Follow wiring labels, checklists, and bills of materials to ensure all connections are correct, complete, and meet quality standards.
  • Use basic wiring hand tools to cut, strip, crimp, terminate, and route wiring within panels and enclosures.
  • Start with simpler wiring assignments and progressively move to larger and more complex panels as experience and proficiency increase.
  • Lift, position, and hold assembly parts weighing up to 35 lbs repeatedly during the workday while completing wiring and assembly tasks.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure proper routing, labeling, and securing of wires and components.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, coordinating with other assemblers and departments to meet production and customer deadlines.
  • Support periodic overtime needs, sometimes on short notice, to help meet customer service requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area on the shop floor.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and good work record by consistently meeting productivity, quality, and attendance expectations.

Essential Skills

  • Previous wiring experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or related environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and blueprints.
  • Sound knowledge and hands-on experience in assembly and wiring techniques for electrical panels or similar products.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, material lists, and related technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail to accurately follow checklists, wiring labels, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to use basic wiring hand tools such as wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, and screwdrivers.
  • Physical ability to lift and hold assembly parts weighing up to 35 lbs repeatedly throughout the work period.
  • High level of motivation and self-direction, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good work record demonstrating reliability, consistent attendance, and strong job performance.
  • Capability to support periodic overtime, including on short notice, to meet customer service demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience wiring switchgear or switchboard products.
  • Wiring certificate from a technical school.
  • Technical associate degree in an electrical or related discipline.
  • Experience as an electrician or electrician’s assistant.
  • The past as an electrical helper in commercial or industrial construction.
  • HVAC certification with electrical wiring experience.
  • Electrical wiring experience in vehicles or other non-manufacturing environments.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting performing electrical assembly or wiring.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility with approximately 600 employees working across first, second, and weekend shifts. The site includes an on-site cafeteria that serves first shift employees. Available shifts include a Monday–Thursday A Shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a Monday–Thursday B Shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with a shift differential provided for night shift work. You will work on the shop floor using standard wiring hand tools and handling parts up to 35 lbs, in an environment that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to production schedules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hopkins, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
