The nurse will be responsible for managing patients with kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants. The role includes caring for patients undergoing abdominal surgeries for hepatobiliary diseases. The nurse will also manage acute transplant rejection treatment and care for trauma, orthopedic, and general medicine patients. Ratios for patient care are typically 1:4-5. Weekend work will be required every other week. The nurse will float within the service line as needed. All documentation is completed using an electronic health record system. Daily census includes an average of 29 patients. The unit has a total of 37 beds. Support staff, including unit secretaries and nurse managers, are available to assist. Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, and wound care. The role emphasizes teamwork and collaboration with an interdisciplinary support team. This position requires passing an EKG exam as part of the qualification process.
