Job Description Summary

Under general direction, performs as a technical specialist for developing and maintaining utility maps and geospatial data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of water, sewer, storm and dry utility systems. Supports the development and use of mapping databases and provides technical assistance using GIS, AutoDesk, and modeling software.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
•Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical school in engineering, Geographical Information Systems, or a closely related field.
•Two (2) years of related experience in mapping or GIS.
•Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training in mapping, GIS, and related utility infrastructure data management may be considered. The City assesses one (1)year of full-time experience as equivalent to one (1) year of education.
•Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record.
•Incumbents in positions that require possession of valid licensing/certification as a condition of employment must obtain and maintain such credentials within the established time periods, and throughout the course of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain required licenses or certifications in good standing may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Foreign Education: Applicants using foreign education to meet minimum qualifications must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation from a current NACES or AICE member. Applicants are responsible for all associated costs.

Additional Job Description

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Public works department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

Work Schedule: This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 3:30pm.

Environment : The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

SELECTION PROCESS

• The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
• Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail, Minimum passing score is 75%- All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.
• Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%)
• Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
• Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
