Sr. Project Manager - Self-Perform Steel Erection (Site Based; Travel Required)

Position Overview The Sr. Project Manager (Self-Perform Steel Erection) is accountable for developing, maintaining, updating, distributing, and managing estimates; overseeing the performance of the Superintendent and supervising ironworker performance; ensuring projects meet quality, performance specifications, and regulatory requirements; managing start‑up activities; reviewing costs against estimates; and updating labor productivity reports. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, update, distribute, and manage estimates. Decide how to handle client change orders and price them appropriately. Review construction strategy with estimators and Business Development during bidding and proposal. Assist in negotiating work with prospective clients and recommend contract type. Ensure project schedules are developed and maintained. Recognize and correct cost overruns, compensating for estimating oversights. Ensure client receivables are paid and manage collections. Monitor construction progress relative to percent of contract billed. Track financial status of projects, providing coaching to Project Managers to achieve positive performance. Identify and actively manage project risks, including safety, insurance, security, and regulatory compliance. Approve project expense reports and forward to Vice President. Use all project controls software effectively. Coordinate support functions including project start‑up with internal and external teams. Respond to major project events (accident, labor strife, subcontractor dispute) and provide direction. Resolve jurisdictional issues among crafts consistent with labor relations policy. Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching to Project Managers and direct reports. Assist in personnel development, ensuring readiness for higher responsibility. Create, interpret, and execute contracts. Manage the change‑order process, billings, and related meetings. Resolve disputes with subcontractors and ensure timely payment processing. Build and maintain positive relationships with key subcontractors. Manage all labor relations and jurisdiction. Implement the company buy‑out procedures (bid packs). Stage, prepare, phase, and sequence site logistics within budget and schedule; assess constructability. Ensure compliance with company Quality Management procedures. Establish rapport and bonding with project team, architects, engineers, owners, and department managers. Maintain positive relationships with clients, their agents, and Vice President about client status and satisfaction. Communicate effectively with owner’s top management when required. Have thorough knowledge of built‑in safety policies and practices; develop safety incentive programs. Take disciplinary action when adequate safety measures are not taken. Review costs, variances, billing processes, change‑order logs, expenses, and labor productivity reports regularly. Review profit fade and develop recovery plans; review schedule of project income with financial directors quarterly. Fulfill MBE/DBE/WBE requirements; monitor supplier performance; participate in civic and public relations efforts. Maintain schedule, quality, and design‑to‑budget of any design performed under company control. Research potential project claims and recommend actions. Review cost trends and profit against plan monthly. Prepare Horizon Plan with division leader quarterly. Review salaried personnel charged to projects or business unit monthly. Travel to company and subsidiary offices, client, subcontractor, and supplier meetings across North America up to 85% of the time. Maintain reliable attendance as required by supervisor and company guidelines. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree related to the construction industry.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering, construction project management, or related activities, with exposure to projects over $50 million.
• Willingness to travel across North America for extended periods (up to 85%).
