Senior Property Accountant

Senior Property Accountant | Arlington Properties | Birmingham, AL Arlington Properties is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to join our accounting team in Birmingham, AL. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants to lead a team, own the numbers behind a growing multifamily portfolio, and work closely with ownership, lenders, and operations leadership. What you'll do: Supervise and develop a team of 3-4 property accountants Own monthly financial reporting and analysis across owned and third-party managed communities, including assets in development Prepare and review monthly operating statements for the managed portfolio Support external reporting to lenders and owners - quarterly compliance, annual audits, and tax requests Assist in cash flow forecasting for distributions and capital contributions Lead transitional accounting for assets entering or exiting management, from setup through final financials Support accounting systems maintenance and project/system implementations What you bring: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business 10+ years of related experience (public accounting and industry background preferred; real estate a plus, not required) Advanced Excel skills Strong knowledge of US GAAP Excellent communication skills — you'll regularly interact with investors, lenders, third-party advisors, and executive leadership A proactive, self-starting mindset that thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment This role is based in our Birmingham corporate office.
