What are CNAs and what do they do? Certified Nursing Assistants are vital members of our patient care teams supporting both patients and nurses. CNAs duties include taking vital signs, documenting, transporting, and providing basic care and assistance with daily living such as bathing and feeding. The combination of education and work time will allow students to be full‑time employees while in training. As a full‑time employee, students will be eligible for all Northern Light Health benefits offerings, including medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement savings, paid time off, wellness programs and more. (One of our sites in Presque Isle offers part‑time – paid education time only option). What happens after I complete training? Once students are on the Maine CNA Registry, students transition into CNA roles on nursing units at the member organization where they received their training. (Please note, most locations require a person to transition to a full‑time CNA role following training.)
