Job Title: General Laborer / Yard Associate – Scaffolding Team Job Description

This role begins as a Yard Associate supporting the scaffolding team at a large yard facility and can progress into a traveling scaffold builder position at commercial construction sites across the Charlotte area. You will handle scaffold materials, load and unload company trucks, maintain inventory in the yard, and, once advanced to the field team, help erect and dismantle scaffolding structures on job sites. This is a hands-on, outdoor position that offers a clear career path into scaffold carpentry and higher-level certifications.

• Sort and organize scaffold materials in the yard to ensure efficient access and safe storage.
• Load and unload company trucks with scaffold components for carpenters and forepersons.
• Station and retrieve equipment on the property in accordance with site procedures and safety guidelines.
• Take accurate inventory of scaffold materials and report any shortages or issues.
• Support the scaffolding team in preparing materials for upcoming projects and job sites.
• Once on the traveling team, set up job sites each morning and assist in building and erecting scaffolding structures.
• Move materials around construction sites and support the foreperson with additional duties as assigned.
• Assist scaffold builders in dismantling scaffolding safely and efficiently at the end of projects.
• Use hand tools, including hammers and tape measures, to assemble and adjust scaffold components.
• Load company trucks at job sites and coordinate with the foreperson to build and dismantle rental scaffold units.
• Work outdoors on construction sites in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
• Wear a safety harness when working at heights up to 10 feet initially, and, after 90 days, progress to certification for higher elevations.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to working at heights, use of personal protective equipment, and material handling.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and attention to detail when assembling, inspecting, and securing scaffold structures.

• Experience in general labor, production, or other physically demanding work environments.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual material handling throughout the workday.
• Comfort working outside on construction sites and in an open yard facility.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools such as hammers, tape measures, and related equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how scaffold components fit and function together.
• Willingness and ability to travel across the Charlotte area to different job sites as part of the scaffold team.
• Capability to work at heights up to 10 feet initially and progress to higher elevations with training and certification.
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to follow instructions from carpenters and forepersons.
• Attention to safety procedures, including proper use of harnesses and personal protective equipment.

• Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, or carpentry is a plus.
• Background in construction, framing, roofing, landscaping, demolition, or commercial construction is beneficial.
• Comfort with yard work and working in large outdoor facilities.
• Interest in developing a long-term career in scaffold carpentry and construction trades.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.

You will work primarily outdoors on construction sites and in a large scaffolding yard, which is one of the largest divisions with an open facility spanning up to 70,000 square feet. The work involves exposure to various weather conditions and requires regular movement of materials and equipment across the yard and job sites. The indoor portion of the facility includes two stories with break rooms, water coolers, and vending machines to support comfort during breaks. You will use hand tools and other construction-related equipment and follow safety protocols, including the use of harnesses when working at heights. The environment is active, hands-on, and focused on safe, efficient operations within a busy commercial construction and scaffolding setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
