Responsibilities The Cardiovascular Sonographer 2 administers sound patient care practices according to hospital/department policies and procedures to ensure the safety of the patients. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of the patients and employees. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test‑enhancing solution, under the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Standards. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and has required supplies readily available for procedures. Correctly identifies patients and appropriate orders, ensuring a high degree of accuracy, as evidenced by the lack of mismatched studies. Maintains active credential status by complying with continual education requirements. Attends at least 50 percent of QA conferences. Demonstrates patient safety in department by use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient monitoring as demonstrated by risk management. Reports, documents and corrects any adverse, unsafe or unusual conditions, as evidenced by documentation in the tracking system. Troubleshoots equipment effectively and reports equipment to biomedical engineering/vendor, as evidenced by service reports. Performs/recognizes need for routine maintenance of echo vascular equipment for consistency of quality images, as evidenced by the physician and the exam results. May perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic medical sonography or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare setting. License: One of the following required upon start: ARDMS with Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) ARDMS with Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with RCS Certification for Echo Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with the RVS Certification for Vascular Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association upon start Experience: 2 years of experience after acquiring registry in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of cardiac or vascular sonography Equal Opportunity Employment Inova Health System is an Equal Opportunity employer.
