Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Building Maintenance Technician to support the daily maintenance, repair, and operation of commercial facilities. This role is responsible for performing general building maintenance, assisting with equipment repairs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with building systems, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance and repair activities throughout the facility.
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of building equipment and infrastructure.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs and basic troubleshooting of facility systems.
• Complete assigned work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, equipment repairs, and labor hours.
• Assist with facility inspections and report any deficiencies or safety concerns.
• Move office furniture, equipment, machinery, and materials as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of maintenance supplies.
• Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental requirements.
• Participate in preventive maintenance programs and safety audits.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Communicate regularly with maintenance leadership regarding project status and facility conditions.
• Assist other maintenance team members with repairs and operational support as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow all established safety procedures and actively participate in facility safety programs.
• Adhere to safe work practices involving Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), fall protection, confined space awareness, and hazard recognition.
• Properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify, assess, and help mitigate workplace risks and hazards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical or vocational training in maintenance, facilities, or a related trade preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience in building maintenance, facility operations, or related work.
• General knowledge of HVAC systems preferred.
• General plumbing knowledge preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to accurately complete documentation and work orders.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead.
• Ability to routinely climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to visually inspect equipment and building systems.
• Ability to work in confined or difficult-to-access areas when required.
• Ability to recognize and respond to visual and auditory alarms.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Additional maintenance-related certifications are a plus.
