Payroll Accountant

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field and moderate experience in payroll functions, GAAP, general accounting, general ledger, computational and analytical skills, preparing and reporting of Federal, State, and local payroll reports, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\t- Experience working with Dayforce or similar payroll systems\n\t- General knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of general, fund and governmental accounting, including financial statement preparation and methods of financial and internal controls and financial reporting.\n\t- General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).\n\t- General knowledge of all U.S. Department of Housing and Development (HUD), Federal, State and local government accounting regulations and procedures.\nThorough knowledge of Authority regulations, policies and procedures.

Job Description

An employer is looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to assist with bandwidth for processing biweekly and monthly employee payrolls. Responsibilities will include:\n\n\t- Reviews and processes the biweekly and monthly payroll.\n\t- Prepares and analyzes payroll reports to ensure that they are in compliance with Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.\n\t- Manages annual regulation updates for IRS tax tables, State, and local agencies.\n\t- Prepares and balances payroll tax reporting to ensure accuracy for W-2 filing at year-end; ensures accuracy.\n\t- Provides maintenance and configures, reconfigures, and analyzes the payroll software system.\n\t- Coordinates with Human Resources on benefit and compensation issues. \n\t- Maintains employees’ compensation and benefits. \n\t- Updates all Medical Open Enrollment rate changes; processes the monthly invoice for Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) and makes changes as needed.\n\t- Researches and prepares material for external or internal auditors. \nLeads, trains, and inspects the work of staff; assists in coaching and counseling; assists with ensuring deadlines for the department are met.
