Sales Consultant

This is an on-site position working in office in Austin, Texas. This position is responsible for selling sponsorships, sponsorship fulfilment, and magazine advertising by phone for the BuildExpo USA trade shows produced by Marketplace Events. The primary focus is generating advertising and sponsorship sales for our premier regional building and construction trade shows by working with current exhibitors, as well as manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers within the industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Sell advertising space, sponsorships, sponsorship fulfilment, and additional marketing opportunities to new and existing exhibitors through outbound sales calls.
  • Make 50–60 outbound calls daily to current and prospective clients.
  • Meet weekly, monthly, and annual sales goals and performance targets.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all sales activity within the CRM system.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, and advertising clients while providing excellent customer service.
  • Use consumer research and attendee demographics to identify and recommend effective exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Prospect and develop new business leads through industry research, online sources, competitive events, association memberships, and other channels.
  • Maintain and update the sales database in accordance with company processes and guidelines.
  • Attend appropriate competitive shows/events and follow up on leads promptly
  • Source local sponsorship opportunities and new business partnerships.
  • Develop a strong understanding of show features, marketing initiatives, and promotional plans to support sales efforts.
  • Attend weekly video chats and occasional in-person meetings with manager, team, and/or clients, plus the annual in-person company meeting
  • Provide on-site floor management support during shows and assist with sponsorship fulfillment coordination.
  • Coordinate advertising placements and exhibitor space details for the magazine/show guide.
  • Ensure all contracts are completed and payments are received on time.
  • Make collection calls as needed
  • Travel to company meetings, shows, and training
  • Bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the sales team; willing to work flexible hours as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities :

  • Minimum 3+ years of proven sales experience required, preferably in telephone-based inside sales, outbound calling, print media, or sponsorship sales.
  • College or university degree preferred
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills required
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and meet conflicting deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and stress management skills
  • Experience in events, including home shows, is a plus
