Job Details Valet Driver – Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort Starting pay: $15–$25 per hour, potential with cash tips daily. The hourly base pay range for this position is $8 per hour plus $7–$12 per hour in tips. Work schedule: weekdays, weekends, holidays, all shifts. Select shifts receive bonus pay. Summary The Guest Service Associate (Valet Driver) is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. The role includes parking and retrieving guest vehicles promptly and safely, assisting guests with luggage, and delivering guest amenities. Essential Functions Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, co‑workers, and clients. Acknowledge and greet guests within five feet with a professional and friendly demeanor. Use guest last names during interactions. Use the salutation of the day and welcome guests to the location. Practice proper phone etiquette. Post up in designated areas when not completing tasks. Park and retrieve vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously. Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage. Open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests. Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries. Provide information about outlets, meeting rooms and/or amenities of the facility as well as main attractions in the area. Deliver messages, items and/or guest amenities as requested. Shuttle guests to approved locations. Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival. Issue claim checks only after receiving vehicle keys and collect claim checks from all guests prior to issuing keys. Consistently complete and maintain all ticket information, including key tag, guest folio, vehicle location, damage survey and claim check receipt. Consistently record vehicle location on key tags after parking. Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when needed. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Licensure, Certification, etc.: Must hold a valid driver’s license for the state you are applying to work, or be within a commutable distance from the state you are applying to work (as applicable). Work Experience: One (1) month related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Skills: Ability to read and write in standard English. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information one‑on‑one or in small groups to guests, clients and employees. Arithmetic skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide three‑digit numbers using units of American currency. Understanding of 24‑hour and military time systems. Understanding of applicable rates. Manual transmission operation desirable; ability to perform parallel parking. Authority to Act: Job is fairly routine. The incumbent follows established practices and procedures, works with specific directions, and is frequently checked or verified. Decisions are made within operational guidelines. Errors in judgment could affect department efficiency. Budget Responsibility: Control over available resources only. Working Conditions & Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently sit or stand for extended periods, run, walk, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Lifting requirements: up to 100lbs occasionally, 50lbs frequently, 20lbs constantly. Majority of work performed outdoors for extended periods, possibly for entire shift. Weather conditions may include extreme heat and cold. Travel up to 5% may be required.
