SUMMARY:

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of assigned construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role ensures that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, company standards, schedules, and budgets.

The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal project teams while maintaining strong communication with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, clients, and vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Project & Site Management

• Manage all on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
• Ensure all work complies with contract documents, drawings, specifications, permits, and applicable building codes.
• Coordinate daily construction activities and sequencing of subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress and maintain production schedules.
• Identify potential delays and proactively develop recovery plans.

Planning & Coordination

• Work closely with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, deliveries, and equipment.
• Coordinate equipment and material orders with the Warehouse Manager, ensuring sufficient lead time to prevent project delays.
• Verify that labor, materials, and equipment are available when required.
• Anticipate scheduling conflicts and resolve field coordination issues.

Field Leadership

• Supervise foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel.
• Establish daily work priorities and production goals.
• Conduct daily site meetings and toolbox talks.
• Enforce company standards, productivity expectations, and professional conduct.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive jobsite culture.

Safety Management

• Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and jobsite audits.
• Lead weekly safety meetings and daily toolbox talks.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions immediately.
• Stop work when unsafe conditions exist.
• Ensure proper documentation of all safety-related activities. Quality Control
• Inspect work for compliance with plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
• Verify proper installation methods and workmanship.
• Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective work.
• Manage testing, inspections, and punch list activities throughout the project.
• Maintain high-quality standards from project start through final completion.

Communication & Documentation

• Provide daily progress updates to the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, equipment logs, and site photographs.
• Document project issues, field directives, delays, RFIs, and change conditions.
• Coordinate communication with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and vendors.
• Serve as the primary field point of contact for project-related activities.

Budget & Cost Control

• Monitor labor productivity and project costs.
• Assist the Project Manager in identifying cost impacts and schedule changes.
• Minimize material waste and equipment downtime.
• Coordinate efficient utilization of labor and subcontractor resources.
• Support implementation of approved change orders and cost-saving initiatives. Problem Solving
• Resolve field conflicts and unforeseen site conditions.
• Coordinate solutions with the Project Manager before implementing changes.
• Maintain project momentum while minimizing disruptions.
• Identify potential risks early and recommend practical solutions.

Project Closeout

• Coordinate final inspections and permit closeout.
• Manage completion of punch list items.
• Ensure final cleaning and site demobilization.
• Verify project documentation is complete.
• Assist with turnover to the owner or General Contractor.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain a professional image representing the company at all times.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Minimum of 5 years of construction supervision experience (commercial or aquatic construction preferred).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and safety requirements.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with construction management software (Procore preferred) and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders, work on uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends as project schedules require.
