Cloud Engineer – Data Governance Lead
Location: Irving, TX – Hybrid (3 days onsite) Duration: 3months+
Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer / Data Governance Lead to drive enterprise data governance across Databricks, Unity Catalog, and Snowflake. The candidate will lead governance strategy while remaining hands-on with data security, quality, metadata, lineage, and controls.
Must-Have Skills
- 10+ years in data governance, data management, data engineering, or related areas
- 5+ years leading enterprise data governance programs
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks & Unity Catalog
- Strong Snowflake and advanced SQL experience
- Data quality, metadata, lineage, and data catalog experience
- Data security, RBAC, access controls, masking, and compliance
- Experience with PySpark/Python and governance automation
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication
- Experience working with Agile, Engineering, DevOps, Security, Risk, and Compliance teams
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute enterprise data governance strategy and operating model
- Implement and administer Unity Catalog and Snowflake governance
- Establish data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and quality standards
- Implement security, privacy, access, and compliance controls
- Develop data quality monitoring and governance KPIs
- Partner with engineering, security, DevOps, and business teams
- Support audits, risk assessments, remediation, and executive reporting
