General Services Technician 1

Job Overview This on‑campus, entry‑level position involves manual, physically demanding work, including asset moves, event assistance, refuse and recycling collection, snow/ice removal, pressure washing, and routine pickups and deliveries. The role requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies. Essential Functions Drive up to 3‑ton trucks for hauling recycle, refuse, personnel, equipment, and materials. Unload and move materials, supplies, furniture, and equipment. Operate tractors, forklifts, and other light equipment. Inspect, schedule, and perform pressure‑washing as needed. Perform related work as required and respond to additional assigned duties. Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; minimum one (1) year of work experience in a related field or trade preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; problem‑solving, organizational, planning, and time‑management abilities; ability to use small power tools, lighting equipment, and an iPad to manage work orders; familiarity with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred. Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving history; training or license to operate light to medium‑heavy trucks and forklifts preferred. Physical and Environmental Demands Sit for long periods of time. Bend, crawl, squat, and climb. Reach above shoulders. Carry/lift 25 lbs. Kneel and stand. Walk for long distances. Push/pull.
