Sr. Cost Accountant

Location: Aliso Viejo, CA

The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $38.94 $49.13 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Employment Type: Temporary, approximately 6 months

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM

Job Summary:

• Manage inventory and COGS for the monthly close cycle, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support month-end close processes, including labor absorption on completed job orders
• Oversee close process for international subsidiaries, including reclassification and accrual entries
• Prepare warranty and inventory reserves, and cost of sales reclassification entries
• Assist with standard cost development and analyze cost variances and gross margins
• Support annual physical inventory counts and ERP adjustments
• Assist with consolidated financial statements and departmental expense reporting
• Serve as subject matter expert on accounting processes, providing guidance to junior staff
• Support year-end audit and tax preparation with documentation and analysis
• Prepare financial reports with insights on gross margin performance

Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant Accounting experience
• Strong understanding of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, large data sets)
• Experience with inventory-related financial transactions and reporting
• Knowledge of Expandable or similar ERP software
• Experience with external financial audits
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• High attention to detail and ability to safeguard confidential information
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred
