Patient Financial Services Specialist

The patient financial services specialist is responsible for managing patient financial services, processing expense certifications, recording payments, maintaining effective communication with patients, and supporting key accounts receivable processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and send certifications of expenses for dispensed medications.
• Collect necessary financial, demographic, and insurance information for certifications.
• Prepare and send medication quotes to patients.
• Contact patients to make collection efforts.
• Review accounts receivable monthly and document the efforts made.
• Record and reconcile deductible payments.
• Update payment agreements and follow up on their deadlines.
• Prepare and send receipts for payments made by patients.
• Handle and archive correspondence for the area.
• Maintain effective communication with patients to clarify doubts, pending or received payments.
• Attend to patient requests referred by other departments as needed.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA, state, and federal.
• Protect the confidential information of patients and the pharmacy.

Requirements:

• Associate degree or continuing education certificates in the billing area.
