Job Description Job Description Firewatch Contracting, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support our growing Federal Government construction operations. This role is ideal for an estimator who can independently manage project bids, develop strong subcontractor relationships, and contribute to a collaborative preconstruction process. Our projects include renovation, modernization, and new construction work for federal agencies. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple bids while working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors. This position also offers strong long-term growth potential into Senior Estimator, Preconstruction and Project Management leadership roles as the company continues to expand. What You'll Do * Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for renovation and new construction projects * Review and interpret plans, specifications, bid documents, and RFPs * Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis * Solicit and level subcontractor and vendor proposals * Identify scope gaps, overlaps, exclusions, and risk items * Assist in proposal preparation, technical narratives, schedules, and bid packages * Coordinate with project management and operations teams during project turnover * Participate in subcontractor buyout activities after project award * Manage multiple active bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications * 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial or government construction * Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bidding processes * Experience with subcontractor/vendor procurement and scope review * Ability to independently manage estimates from bid review through submission * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Federal Government contracting * Experience with estimating tools such as RSMeans, Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar software * Familiarity with scheduling software including Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 * Construction-related degree or equivalent field experience * Experience preparing technical proposal narratives and schedules Why Join Firewatch Contracting? * Competitive salary range of $80K-$110K depending on experience * Health benefits * Paid time off * Performance bonus potential * Opportunity for a flexible/hybrid work schedule after the first year based on performance and business needs * Opportunity to work on meaningful Federal and commercial construction projects * Collaborative and growing team environment * Career advancement opportunities into Senior Estimator and Preconstruction leadership * Veteran-owned company with a strong reputation for quality and integrity Work Environment This position works closely with the Vice President and project teams and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision in a fast-paced office environment.
