Position Summary

The mission of the Project Manager is to, under limited supervision, deliver quality projects on time and within budget for those projects which are assigned to him or her.

 

The essential functions of the Project Manager are to:

 

Client Perspective:

This perspective focuses on the individual's relationships with clients. It includes metrics such as client satisfaction with your services, personal satisfaction with your relationships, and retention rates of your relationships. 1. Represent the company in a professional manner and present a positive image when working with clients, contractors, and the public.
2. Discuss project expectations with clients and work to meet those expectations as the project progresses.
3. Prepare scope and fee proposals for new project opportunities and review with the client to gain approval.
4. Identify opportunities with existing and potential clients.
5. Assist the sales and business development team in the Prospect cycle (identifying leads, winning new work from targets, discovering opportunities, preparing proposals, etc.)
6. Participate in networking as assigned (conferences, client meetings, webinars, tradeshows, etc.). 
7. Maintain communication with the client, team members, and subconsultants.
8. Seek out areas of new work with existing clients.
9. Report any leads or suggestions toward securing new work. 
10. Prepare material required to submit a technical proposal, such as project understanding and approach.
11. Maintain client satisfaction through follow-up after project completion.

 

Internal Business Process Perspective:

This perspective focuses on the internal Business processes that drive the practice or department performance. It includes items such as technical expertise, teamwork, engagement, and impact on group culture. 1. Assemble and coordinate the work of professional staff, engineers, and other consultants involved in a project to assure that the firm’s quality control objectives are achieved, that documents are developed in accordance with internal and construction cost budgets and schedules, and consistent with the Project Management Plan (PMP) for the project. 
2. Develop and update the project plan and budget within the company ERP system and assist with management and resource coordination for the duration of the project.
3. Use the company resource planning system to establish schedules, deadlines, and assignment of personnel.
4. Serve as technical lead for specific tasks within his or her respective practice.
5. Maintain the technical quality standards established by the company.
6. Follow policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Financial Perspective:

This perspective focuses on the individual's impact on financial goals and objectives. It includes metrics such as utilization, margin, and expenses. Aligning with our core values of GROWTH and ACCOUNTABILITY as we work together and count on each other.

1. Ability to successfully manage $500,000 - $1,000,000 in annual net revenue. 
2. Review and approval of project expenses.
3. Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and manpower projections.
4. Assist with workload balance efforts to maintain utilization targets for other employees.
5. Efficiently manage time towards completion of assignments within schedule and budget. 
6. Successfully achieve the financial goals set forth for your Practice and position (net revenue, contribution margin, direct labor hours, etc.). 
7. Review and approve Client invoices and oversee timely A/R collections.

4. Make recommendations to the Practice Leader for the development of team members on your respective projects.
5. Identify emerging skills needed to support client needs. 
6. Successfully maintain CEU’s and licensure as assigned/required. 

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • BS degree with minimum of 10-14 years of project management experience or MS/MBA degree with 8+ years of project management experience. 
• Valid driver’s license.
• Project Management and Resource Planning Training Programs.

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles relative to the field.
• Must demonstrate the ability to successfully manage projects intermediate in complexity.
• Ability to work on and manage a variety of technical tasks.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Seeing, hearing, talking, standing, stooping, bending, walking, reading, and writing.
• Reaching with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.
• Ability to work extended hours at times.

 

Environment:

• Predominantly office environment: some overnight travel is required.
• The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
• Occasionally works in outside weather conditions, possibly for extended assignments. 
• The noise level on the construction site is often loud.
