About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience. Recent hospital or medical center experience preferred. Previous travel assignment within the last 15 months required. License: Active Iowa license or compact multistate license required. Certifications: BLS (AHA) required. Must-Have: Experience in circulating and operating room roles. Scrub experience preferred. Experience with General, Davinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required. Additional experience in Client, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases preferred. EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years required. Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Trauma Level II experience required. References from a charge nurse, supervisor, or director within the last 24 months preferred. Description: The Operating Room Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in the operating room setting. The nurse will manage the care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Expect to handle an average of 35-50 surgical cases per day with an expectation for turnovers of less than 20 minutes. The role requires a focus on multiple service lines, including Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, General, Gyn, Uro, and Pediatrics. The Operating Room Nurse will be required to float across multiple campuses as needed. Participation in call duties will be required, with potential overnight and weekend responsibilities. A collaborative approach to care delivery is essential in this fast-paced environment. This position demands a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
