HVAC Project Sales Engineer

Position Overview

Are you an outgoing, self-motivated technical sales professional looking to expand your career with an industry-leading team? We are seeking an experienced HVAC Project Sales Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL.

In this outside sales and consultative engineering role, you will focus on major commercial retrofit and equipment replacement projects—such as chiller overhauls, boiler upgrades, rooftop unit replacements, and energy conservation retrofits. You will consult directly with our existing commercial client base, working hand-in-hand with our service department. With dedicated Project Coordinators managing execution logistics, your focus remains entirely on building trusted client relationships, conducting site assessments, and delivering high-impact mechanical solutions.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Consult with existing commercial clients on complex HVAC system replacements, equipment retrofits, design-build solutions, and energy conservation initiatives.

• Partner closely with our internal service technicians and account teams to act on warm, internal leads—no hard cold-calling required.

• Perform site assessments and heating/cooling load calculations to evaluate building needs and design appropriate mechanical solutions.

• Prepare detailed engineering estimates and present consultative sales proposals that demonstrate clear financial value, including cash flow impact, ROI, payback periods, and leasing vs. purchasing options.

• Work closely with our Lead Engineers and Project Coordinators, ensuring a seamless transition from closed sale to project delivery.

• Drive department growth to meet company sales, revenue, and gross profit dollar targets.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of experience in outside sales, account management, or technical consulting within the HVAC, MEP, or related commercial building systems industries.

• A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is welcomed; however, an engineering degree is not required if backed by strong sales acumen, industry knowledge, and technical confidence.

• Experience or familiarity with heating and cooling load calculations, commercial HVAC equipment (chillers, RTUs, boilers), and building systems.

• Ability to understand and communicate financial concepts to commercial decision-makers (payback analysis, ROI, cash flow impact, lifecycle costs).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional confidence, and a deep understanding of customer buying motives.
