About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg Ortho Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: License required to submit Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Candidates must not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit within the past year. Description: RN's must pass a skills exam during orientation. This is an open book exam. Candidates are provided all necessary resources to pass. A score of 90% is required to pass. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will result in termination of contract. A driver's license is required for identification purposes. The unit has 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds. Patient ratios are 1:5. Common diagnoses include total knees, total hips, shoulder replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, and fractures. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common drips administered include heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombics, and narcotics. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who also takes an assignment. Nurse aides and patient care techs are on the unit with a ratio of 1:10. IDeal candidates will be flexible and self-directed. The unit focuses on hourly rounding and bedside shift report. The primary patient population may include individuals with mental health and/or addiction histories. The weekend requirement is every third weekend. Friday and Saturday are considered the weekend for night shifts. Candidates will self-schedule. Additional time-off requests will not be approved after submission. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is preferred but not required. This position is in an acute care setting. Healthcare experience is valued.
