Instrument and Controls Technician

About the role The Instrument & Controls Technician will be responsible for managing all phases of electrical and control equipment throughout the plant, including preventive, corrective, emergency, and warranty service. The role involves identifying, repairing, and documenting electrical equipment malfunctions, troubleshooting DCS systems, PLCs, VFDs, motor control circuits, transmitters, flow meters, level controls, and burner management systems. Responsibilities also include calibrating mechanical and electrical instrumentation, installing and testing new equipment to safety standards, conducting predictive analysis, updating the Preventive Maintenance System, and performing other duties as assigned. The Technician must be willing to be on‑call and work a variety of shifts to meet plant needs. Responsibilities Operate and maintain the instrument and control test, calibration, and repair areas and all assigned equipment. Assist in redesigning instrumentation, control, and electrical systems as required. Monitor burning processes as appropriate. Perform general work or other assignments to ensure safe, clean, and efficient facility operation. Carry out additional duties as required. Position Requirements Five or more years of hands‑on experience with electronic/electrical and pneumatic systems in an industrial environment. Energy from Waste or Power Plant experience desirable. High School Diploma or equivalent and/or formal technical training. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose instrumentation and controls and understand their process interactions. Perform calibrations for pressure, flow, temperature and other sensing instrumentation (majority Rosemount). Proficient with multimeters and smart calibrators. Read electrical prints and P&IDs. Troubleshoot OMRON PLC hardware and logic using OMRON software. Troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC hardware and logic using Allen Bradley software (SLC 504). Learn and utilize the Operator Interface System “Citect” for creating graphic screens, writing ci‑code, developing alarm and trend tags, etc. Learn and troubleshoot Ethernet communication in the Plant Control System. Work a rotating shift schedule and overtime as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Walk, stand, sit, and climb. Lift or carry up to 50 lbs. Work from heights and in confined spaces. Qualify to wear a full‑face respirator. Consistently work in various weather conditions. Pay Transparency Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably. Final salary will be determined by experience, education, geography, skills, and other relevant criteria.
