Reading Intervention Teacher

Position Type: Middle School Teaching/ Language Arts Date Posted: 8/17/2026 Location: Sage Park Middle School Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to serve as a reading intervention teacher to improve students' achievement in cross-curricular literacy. Essential Functions Plan and implement Tier II and Tier III reading instruction Administer diagnostic reading assessments and analyze the results Create evaluation instruments and procedures to monitor the student progress and the effectiveness of instruction Using formal documentation, track student progress and outcomes Deliver professional learning to staff, upon request Provide feedback to the MTSS Team, administration, and teaching staff regarding student progress, expectations, and goals and objectives Create and instruct individuals and small groups based on data Collaborate with staff (other interventionists, instructional coaches, and classroom teachers) and the Office of Instructional Services to ensure seamless implementation of literacy intervention Collaborate with any outside consultants to build professional capacity, as needed Use effective organizational and communication skills Create a safe and productive learning environment, in which students develop a love of literacy Implement effective parental communication to support students' education Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Knowledge of reading instruction including: foundational skills, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development. Knowledge of the cognitive science of reading. Understanding of the range of perspectives in the area of reading instruction, such as those related to cognitive science and relational approaches. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, writing, and mathematics. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Certification/License CT certification: 215 English, Middle School 6-8 or 015 English, 7-12 AND 102 Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1-12 Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Windsor Board of Education and the Windsor Education Association.
