The unit has 12 adult beds and 5 adolescent chairs/beds. There are also 6 inpatient beds available. Candidates should have experience with adults, as they make up 75% of the patient population. Adolescents represent 25% and experience with this demographic is preferred. Duties include intake and triage, crisis de-escalations, and managing acute psychosis. The role involves addressing suicidal ideation and providing low-level medication management. No IVs or medical detox is involved. The patient ratio for RNs is 1:2-3 on both days and nights. For CNAs, the ratio may go up to 1:4. Social Workers manage approximately 4 cases in the emergency department. Inpatient Social Workers typically handle 2-3 cases. Required certifications for RNs include BLS and de-escalation training. CNA candidates should also have BLS and preferred de-escalation training. Social Workers are required to have an APSW, with LCSW and BLS preferred. Skills required for CNAs include rounding, surveillance, and basic care. Mental health experience is necessary for all positions. Supporting roles include a charge nurse during the first shift and house supervisors for evening/overnight shifts. Security personnel are present 24/7. Two physicians and a mid-level provider are also on-site. The charting system used is EPIC. There may be minimal floating to other facilities based on patient census. Weekend rotation is expected for RNs and CNAs, while it is optional for Social Workers. RNs will be on call during low census periods with a 1-hour response time. There is a minimum expectation of working 2 major winter holidays for RNs and CNAs. Approval for time off may be granted up to 5 days. Dress code for RNs and CNAs is business casual or any color scrubs, while Social Workers should dress in business casual attire.
