About the Vault

Our vault in New Castle, Delaware is the physical backbone of Alt's collectibles infrastructure: a 7,200 sq ft purpose-built facility, and the intake and outtake engine behind our auctions, marketplace, lending, and pricing products.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Manager, Vault Operations to own vault operations end to end: the P&L, the customers, the team, the technology, and the expansion plan.

This is a strategy-and-scale role, not a floor-supervision role. Our Vault Operations Manager runs the day-to-day: balancing people resourcing, intake and outtake throughput, and the vault team across all shifts. You'll work directly with the shift managers and clear their paths while you focus on the work that scales the vault into a $10M+ business unit that powers our business and the businesses of our customers.

What this role is not : a shift supervisor seat, a pure people-management seat, or a role where someone else builds the model and hands you a plan to execute. You'll build the model, own the number, and defend both at the leadership level.

The person who thrives here is a critical thinker who can hold two altitudes at once: sharp enough to spot why a shift missed SLA and rebuild the process, strategic enough to model a second vault location, negotiate a carrier contract, and sit across the table from an enterprise partner's C-suite with confidence.

North Star

P90 intake and outtake speed. Measured in raw hours, not business hours, and inclusive of weekends and holidays. The clock starts when an item arrives at our dock and stops when it is vaulted and live, and the same discipline applies in reverse on outtake.

What You'll Own

Drive P90 intake and outtake speed down

• Own P90 intake and outtake speed as the top operating metric, measured in raw hours inclusive of weekends, and drive it down quarter over quarter.

• Build the forecasting and capacity model that ties inbound volume to staffing, shifts, and machine capacity so we absorb spikes without backlog.

• Design shift and weekend coverage around a raw-hours clock, not a business-day calendar.

• Instrument it. Know your numbers daily, not at month-end, and escalate before a backlog becomes a customer problem.

Own the vault P&L and grow it

• Own the full vault P&L, including labor, lease, insurance, shipping, packaging, software, and capex, and drive margin expansion in a business unit that is already profitable.

• Build the model and the case for new revenue channels: enterprise vaulting, shipping and insurance margin, specialized handling and repacking, new asset classes.

• Report performance and unit economics up to leadership with a clear point of view on where to invest and where to cut.

Build the SOP layer the whole operation runs on

• Create, own, and continuously update the SOPs for every vault workflow: receiving, unboxing under surveillance, digitization, cataloging, put-away, picking, packing, high-value and international outtake, secure transport, claims.

• Train the team on them, verify adherence, and treat every miss or loss event as an SOP gap to close.

• Write the customer-specific SOPs enterprise partners require, and make sure they're actually executable on the floor.

• Implement more advanced auditing cadences that catch issues before they impact stored inventory.

Service and scale enterprise customer relationships

• Serve as the operational owner for Alt Enterprise accounts: repackers, funds, and collectibles businesses running high-volume, custom workflows through our vault.

• Staff accounts deliberately: assign the right people to the right partners, define dedicated-FTE coverage, and make sure account knowledge doesn't live in one person's head.

• Be the escalation point. When a partner has a problem, you own it to resolution and communicate proactively, before they have to ask.

• Prioritize across competing partner demands and internal work with clear reasoning, and bring a polished, credible presence to partner calls, onsite visits, and QBRs.

Partner with Product to scope and deploy new technology

• Work hand in hand with our Vault Product Manager to scope, sequence, and launch the tooling that removes manual touches: intake automation, imaging and cataloging workflows, enterprise APIs, vault management software.

• Translate floor reality into product requirements, pressure-test designs before they ship, and own operational readiness and change management at go-live.

Lead machine investments

• Own capital investment in vault machinery, from requirements and throughput targets through vendor RFP, competitive bids, capex approval, installation, and acceptance testing.

• Evaluate vendors on throughput, reliability, footprint, serviceability, and integration, not just price, and build the maintenance, spare-parts, and service-SLA plan for a facility with no on-site engineers.

• Get to real capacity gains: measured cards per hour, not vendor spec sheets.

Manage vendors, carriers, and inventory

• Own the vendor portfolio: carriers, secure transport, packaging suppliers, security and access control, insurance brokers, software vendors. Manage performance, renewals, and cost.

• Negotiate carrier rates using our scale, and continuously test routing and label strategy so shipping is a margin-positive channel in both directions.

• Own consumable inventory and reorder discipline for boxes, mailers, inserts, labels, and supplies, with par levels and lead times, so we never stop shipping because we ran out of a box.

• Own specialized inventory for enterprise partners: custom boxes, inserts, branded packaging, partner-specific materials, sourced, stocked, cost-recovered, and reordered on time.

Plan headcount, shifts, and expansion

• Own headcount planning for the vault: build the staffing model from capacity math, make the case for roles, hire well, and develop the team.

• Own the shift structure, including multi-shift coverage, weekend and surge staffing, and shift leads, balancing speed against labor cost.

• Lead expansion into new vault locations: site selection, layout and physical flow, buildout, staffing, SOP replication, and launch. Design for the peak and for the next five years, not for today.

Collaborate across the company

• Partner closely with CX on vault-driven ticket volume and response quality, with Sales on enterprise deals and high-value outtake requests, with Product and Engineering on the vault roadmap, with Finance on P&L, capex, and pricing, and with Legal on partner agreements and insurance.

• Be the person other teams want to bring into a hard problem: clear, calm, and solutions-oriented.

What We're Looking For

• You think like an owner, not a supervisor. You've held a P&L or a large budget and made real tradeoffs on it. 7+ years in operations, logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain, including 3+ years managing teams, ideally managing managers.

• You've owned a throughput number in a high-volume physical operation. Fulfillment, 3PL, e-commerce, warehousing, secure logistics, or similar, with direct accountability for cycle time and SLA performance.

• You lead through other people. You delegate, set clear expectations, and develop your managers to operate like you. You've built and scaled SOPs and training programs across shifts.

• You're a critical thinker. You get to root cause, question the premise, and build systems that hold up under pressure.

• You're strong in front of customers. You're the person we'd want in the room with an enterprise partner's leadership team. You write and speak with precision and are adept at delivering good and bad news. You've been the operational owner of enterprise or B2B relationships with custom workflows and formal SLAs.

• You build the model yourself. Strong analytical chops. You don't wait for Finance or Analytics to tell you what your operation is doing.

• You've negotiated with vendors and carriers , with a track record of margin improvement to show for it.

• You love operational complexity where software meets the physical world. High-value assets, logistics, machinery, imaging, custody, insurance.

• You move fast without breaking things that matter. Speed never comes at the expense of asset security, chain of custody, or auditability. You're comfortable in high-value, high-trust environments where loss prevention and insurance requirements shape the process.

• You use AI as a force multiplier , modeling capacity, drafting SOPs, analyzing throughput data, and pressure-testing vendor proposals.
