About the Role and Why It Is A Little Different

Most marketing leadership ads want a one-person band. This one wants a conductor. We have a bench of specialist contractors, each a real expert in their own lane, spread worldwide. They need a leader who sets priorities, writes a clear brief, clears roadblocks, and knows great work when they see it.

Your mission: keep people coordinated, projects moving, deadlines visible, and results measurable. You do not need to be an expert in every marketing channel. You do need to be good at managing the experts who are. If you enjoy managing many moving parts and turning them into a plan—and a plan into completed work—we should talk.

We are seeking a senior In-House Marketing Director to orchestrate our multi-channel growth engine. In this role, you will serve as the operational quarterback—managing specialized freelance contributors. You will set the creative brief, enforce brand/legal compliance for consistent messaging, audit contractor output, and execute and scale multi-channel acquisition and brand-awareness campaigns. In this role, you will bridge legal/tax expertise with high-impact digital marketing to grow B2C and B2B leads, dominate local search footprints, and produce authority-building content across video, webinar, and social channels.

You will work closely with leadership, our established LinkedIn marketing team, and various freelancers to turn specialized tax-bankruptcy thought leadership into measurable new leads.

About Tax Workout Group

Tax Workout Group is a growing national law firm focused on tax controversy and tax-motivated bankruptcy. We have expanded our office footprint and want to invest in a coordinated marketing operation to support the firm’s growth. We operate as a lean business, so we’re building our marketing team differently: one full-time leader coordinating a distributed network of specialist contractors. We rely on talented people who know their craft, and we need someone who can help them work together effectively.

We have one full-time marketing seat, and it is a leadership position. You will plan, assign, track, unblock, and evaluate the work of a distributed team, and you will be accountable for the results. Your marketing knowledge makes you good at it, but managing people and projects is the job.

Lead the team

• Recruit, onboard, evaluate, and (when needed) replace contractors, mainly through Upwork and similar platforms
• Turn marketing goals into clear, well-scoped briefs that a remote specialist can pick up and run with
• Run several projects at once: set priorities, sequence the work, manage dependencies, and keep every workstream moving
• Give specific, kind feedback, and hold people accountable for quality, deadlines, and results

Direct marketing and software projects

• Oversee work across the lanes listed below, each carried out by the specialists who own it
• Guide development of the custom, web-hosted marketing software we build and use, from requirements through release
• Keep one current, honest view of status, risks, and deadlines for firm leadership

Measure, report, and stay compliant

• Use analytics to judge both campaign performance and contractor performance
• Deliver a consolidated monthly report of marketing spend across contractors, tools, and other expenses
• Keep all marketing work in line with Florida Bar advertising rules

Stay hands-on where it’s quick

• Handle small ad hoc requests that take five minutes instead of a day to write up for someone else. We love this, but it’s a bonus, not the job.

The Lanes Your Specialists Own

You’ll know each one well enough to set sound goals, ask good questions, tell great work from so-so work, and notice when a deadline has quietly wandered off.

What We’re Looking For - Project management comes first. We’re looking for someone with experience managing multiple projects at once, coordinating multiple contributors, and delivering results.

You should bring:

• Demonstrated experience managing projects, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Experience coordinating remote contractors, freelancers, or distributed teams.
• Strong delegation, written communication, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
• Enough marketing-generalist knowledge to understand what specialists are doing, evaluate their work, and ask intelligent questions.
• Comfort with project management tools, performance metrics, budgets, and status reporting.
• The ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and bring structure to an evolving operation.
• Flexibility for occasional meetings outside conventional business hours.

Especially valuable experience

Experience managing software development projects, marketing projects, multiple teams, parallel projects, remote contributors, and international teams would be particularly valuable.

Law firm marketing experience, familiarity with digital marketing analytics, and practical use of generative AI tools are additional pluses.

What You Don’t Need to Be - You do not need to personally run every ad campaign, write every article, edit every video, or become the world’s leading authority on all things SEO. You do need to know enough to manage the people who handle those tasks, and it helps to be able to knock out a quick task yourself when that’s more efficient.

What Success Looks Like - Our contractors know what to do. Projects don’t disappear into the void. Deadlines and budgets are managed. Problems surface early. Marketing initiatives move forward in parallel, and management can see results.
