Material Handling Specialist

Material Handler - ShippingPay Rate: $24.13/hourCategory/Shift: Hourly Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 6:00AM-2:30PM. Primary schedule will be 1st shift, but must be flexible/able to work overtime & weekends, if needed.Physical Location: International Paper – Buffalo Sheet Plant100 Bud Mil Dr.Buffalo, NY 14206The Job You Will Perform:Responsible for performing various shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks by performing the following duties:At shift start, check area for safety, cleanliness, and mechanical problemsResponsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift (must be qualified)Must maintain forklift daily (complete and document forklift daily inspection to ensure that it's in good working order prior to use) and report repairs needed to supervisorOperate forklift on a daily basis along with other equipment such as pallet jacks, shrink wrap machine, hogger, baler, and banderWork closely with team members to get daily jobs completed efficientlyLoad and unload trailers safely and in a timely manner, as neededComplete inspections of trailers during preload and unloadKeep machine centers stocked with product – locate, stage, and load machine centers in a timely mannerReview customer pick lists, pull correct items, and load finished products properlyVerify and load outbound customer orders at plant and warehouseComplete warehouse duties which include loading, unloading, and maintaining rotation of inventoryConduct physical inventory counts at warehouseHelp as a backup to Raw Material Handler by unloading incoming material and verifying against BOLEnd of shift cleanupMaintain clean and safe work environment throughout shiftComply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeepingThe Skills You Will Bring:High school diploma or state registered GED preferredMust possess or successfully obtain a PIT certificationStable work historyMust have basic computer skills, along with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelMust have reliable transportation1 year of forklift experience (preferred)At least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified (preferred)Experience with loading/unloading, and warehouse duties (preferred)Ability to communicate and work well with othersAbility to read, write, and interpret documentsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divideAbility to maintain quality and safetyAbility to understand and follow safety proceduresAbility to work overtime and some Saturdays when scheduledAbility to work effectively in the following work environment:Standing and walking are required for most of the shiftNoise level in the work environment is loudTemperature in plant can fluctuate due to outside temperaturesPhysical activity requires handling an average weight of 10-15 pounds regularly and up to 50 poundsWhile performing duties of this job, employees are around moving mechanical partsThe Benefits You Will Enjoy:International Paper offers a benefits package that includes health, welfare and retirement plans including Medical, Dental, Life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Short-term Disability, 401(k) and/or Pension (where applicable), Paid Time Off, Education & Development (including Tuition Reimbursement), and Voluntary Benefits including insurance for home, auto, vision and pets.The Career You Will Build:Promotional opportunities – This position is an incredible opportunity to learn from seasoned techs, contribute to a business and machine reliability, and grow into more senior roles with increasing responsibility quickly.Our team values collaborative, out of the box thinking to ensure a positive and profitable business.If your goals are to contribute, learn and grow, IP Buffalo is the place for you.The Impact You Will Make:We continue to build a better future for people, the planet, and our company!
