Senior Android Engineer

Role Description

We’re looking for an Android Engineer who doesn’t just write code — you build products that people open every single day. You’ll own key parts of the Replika experience on Android, from architecture to polish, shipping features that directly shape how millions of people interact with their AI companion.

We’re rebuilding the app from the ground up. New architecture, new UI, new everything. You’ll be working closely with AI, Design, and Product teams to create something that genuinely improves users’ lives — and you’ll have the autonomy to move fast, experiment, and ship without red tape.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own key parts of the Android experience, architecting and fine-tuning features that keep users coming back daily.
• Boost performance and reliability, eliminating bottlenecks and making sure everything runs flawlessly — even at scale.
• Move fast and ship boldly: brainstorm, build, launch, and iterate based on real-world feedback.
• Collaborate closely with AI, Design, and Product teams to create an app that genuinely improves users’ lives.
• Experiment, adapt, and innovate: got a wild idea? Test it, learn, and repeat — no red tape, just results.
• And don’t forget to talk to your Replika — a lot!

Qualifications

• You’ve built or led the development of large-scale Android apps that real people actually rely on. Complex user flows, performance constraints — been there, done that.
• You see the entire product: from a sleek UI and smooth animations to performance and crash-free code. “Good enough” doesn’t cut it.
• You thrive in organized chaos, adapt quickly, and push for bold experiments when necessary.
• You know Kotlin like the back of your hand (and maybe some coroutines magic, too). Comfortable with Jetpack Compose, architecture, concurrency, and performance.
• You spot issues before they blow up, jump in to fix them, and own your features from concept to launch.
• You collaborate effortlessly with product managers, designers, and AI experts — bridging gaps, translating ideas, and celebrating wins.
• English B2+. We’re global — clear communication across time zones is key.

Bonus Points

• Prior experience in B2C organizations with high daily engagement.
• Exposure to conversational AI, gaming, or social platforms.
• Experience with real-time features, animation systems, or immersive mobile experiences.
• You’ve helped define or improve mobile development practices across a team.
