Your day at Vortex Doors

Picture this: you roll out in a company-provided vehicle, toolkit ready, schedule in hand. First stop is a warehouse where you’ll install a new dock leveler, weld it into place, and verify alignment and safety. Next, you’re troubleshooting a commercial sectional door with a broken spring and a finicky limit switch. You close the day performing quality checks, documenting your work, and walking the customer through what you fixed and why it matters for uptime and safety.

What you’ll tackle

• Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial sectional doors, dock levelers, and associated hardware with the right tools for the job.
• Weld new dock levelers during installation and confirm structural integrity.
• Diagnose and repair springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components on door systems.
• Perform occasional pedestrian door repairs — training provided if you’re eager to learn.
• Verify compliance with safety codes and building standards on every install.
• Deliver clear, courteous customer service: explain findings, outline options, and recommend cost‑effective solutions.
• Keep accurate records of service visits, repairs, and installations; submit timely reports.
• Complete quality checks to meet Vortex’s unsurpassed workmanship standards.

What you bring

• Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
• Physical capability to move 50+ lbs, climb ladders up to 20’, kneel for extended periods, and operate power tools safely.
• Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus; clear, professional communication in all conditions.
• Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and the ability to relay information in fast-paced environments.
• Confidence presenting options and persuading customers when appropriate.
• Detail orientation and pride in quality workmanship; reliable and self-motivated.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 – 4+ years’ experience in the commercial door service industry; welding certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of commercial door and dock types, brands, and hardware; skilled with hand and power tools.
• Comfort with fractions, precise tape‑measure reading, and field math for accurate installations.
• Up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and consistent adherence to safety protocols.

Schedule & work conditions

• Full-time role with shifts available between 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; some overtime and on-call required.
• Fast-paced, results-oriented field environment with continuous training as you progress.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle.
